How to keep your lipstick on all day!

How to keep your lipstick on all day......

We want to share some very simple tips to help you keep your lipstick on all day.

It doesn't matter how busy you are at work or home, you do not want to have to worry about your lipstick coming off and having to reapply it throughout the day. In the morning your lipstick colour looks freshly applied and crisp but as the day goes on it may start fading and leave you with just a terrible outline.

No need to panic! There is an easy way to apply your lipstick to make sure it lasts all day. The secret is to prep, prime, apply, and set your lipstick in the same way that do for your face makeup.

Prep and prime your lips

Before you prime your lips, it is important to prep them with an exfoliator and a nice soft lip balm. Take a small amount of a lightweight foundation or concealer and apply it all over your lips. This will fill any tiny cracks in your lips and create a smooth even base for your lipstick. This step is optional but it will definitely help to make your lipstick last longer.

Go one step further and use a lip liner to add some definition to your lips by outlining your lips to prevent your lipstick from bleeding outside of your natural lip line. To help keep your lipstick from smudging and fading fill your lips with the lip liner which adds another layer of priming to your lips.

Choose a matte lipstick

Bullet lipsticks are great but matte lipsticks, especially the liquid ones, stay longer on your lips than soft and creamy lipsticks. If you know you are not going to have time to touch up your lipstick, opt for a long-wearing matte lipstick which will give you a long-lasting finish. Do not add a lip balm or lip gloss over your lipstick as it will reduce the longevity of the lipstick.

Blot and set your lips

You set your cream and liquid foundations with powder to make it last all day, why not do the same with your lipstick and get the perfect lipstick look every time?

Once your lipstick is on, blot the excess with a single tissue ply. This removes excess oils from your lips increasing its staying power. Apply a second coat of lipstick to build on the colour and blot again. Lastly dab a thin layer of a fine translucent setting powder on your lips to set your lipstick.

Avoid oily foods

Oily greasy foods act like an oil-based makeup remover so avoid eating them if you do not want your lipstick to wear off. They act by breaking down your lipstick, not only causing your lipstick to wear off, they can also smudge your lipstick outside of your lip line which is not an attractive look. Ideally choose dry foods that can be broken into smaller chunks and eaten with a spoon or fork. The less often your lips come in contact with food the better for your lips and lipstick.

Lipstick is a key part of your makeup, it completes your look. Whether you are a wearing simple everyday makeup look or going for full on glamour, it is important to make your lipstick last longer. Hopefully these simple tips will help keep your lipstick from fading or smudging throughout the day and make your lipstick longer.
