With lighter evenings and brighter mornings, it's finally time to start thinking of sunnier days. Here at Hogies Online we love a change in season, and have plenty of top tips to make sure your make-up bags are ready for Summer. Whether you are planning a holiday abroad, parties in the UK or just dreaming of long, lazy beach days, it's a great excuse to review skincare routines and get creative with Summer looks.
Get Organised
First thing's first, have a good clear out. Getting to the bottom of your storage baskets, cosmetics and make-up bags is a great way to identify what products you actually need to top up. Most make-up has a shelf life (did you know your mascara should be replaced every 3 months?) so make sure your existing makeup is in good condition. It will also mean that you will make fewer impulse purchases, meaning you can treat yourself to the items you really need!
Check the date on your sun cream, most are OK to use for a year, but if your sun protection has started to separate, or if there's a change to smell or texture, it's time to replace it!
And whilst we think about UV rays, it's important to check that your sunglasses are offering the right protection, even in the shade. Check your glasses have the CE mark on the inside arm, and if you are treating yourself to a new pair, ensure they offer 100% UV protection (usually found on the lenses sticker). There are so many ways to find Summer inspiration, from magazines to weekend supplements, social media and YouTube tutorials, but our favourite is Pinterest.
Whether you are looking for new make-up trends or hair tutorials, there are boards for everyone. You are bound to find more inspiration than you expect! It's a great way to research new products and your favourite brands too. Sun-kissed summer looks are everywhere this year, with bronzers making a welcomed return. Complexion-wise, clean, glowing bare skin is a perfect summer look, easy to create and maintain, whether at home or on holiday. It also makes a perfect base for a bold lip.
